South

  • Venue: Harrogate Theatre 6 Oxford Street Harrogate, England, HG1 1AA United Kingdom (map)

Sir Ernest Shackleton’s glorious epic of the Antarctic.

A record of one of the greatest survival stories in the history of exploration, South is the original film of Shackleton’s 1914-16 expedition to Antarctica aboard the Endurance, during which the ship was crushed by ice, stranding the crew. Unseen since it sank in the Weddell Sea in 1915, the wreck of Endurance was finally found in March 2022.

One of the most remarkable treasures in the national film archive…
